Now lets have a deep look at how this system works. Firstly, lets have a look at the timer, the timer is the brain of the washing machine. Each and every part of the washing cycle is controlled by the timer. The timer controls various other switches in order to control several other functions. This is also the one who decides on the correct amount of electricity that is to be sent to each section of the machine at the right time. Depending on the temperature and wash cycle set by you the respective knobs or solenoids open up for filling water. A pressure solenoid cuts off the water supply when the tub is filled. This is done by checking the pressure in the tub. Once the water inlet solenoid is closed a signal is sent to the motor to start the washing cycle.
In the washer phase, the clothes on the top are being pulled down and those down are sent up so that the detergent reaches all the clothes evenly for effective cleaning. Once washing is done, the machine automatically switches to the spin mode, depending on the program you have set. In the spin mode centrifugal force is used to extract water from the clothes. Here the clothes are whirled at a very high speed for the centrifugal force to extract water. A sensor is placed on the lid that pauses the program in the machine whenever the lid is opened, only to be resumed when it is closed again. The washer is connected to the base with a series of springs and rubber blocks. This prevents the tub from vibrating during the spinning process.
There are many new technological innovations being made day in and day out. Like recently some washing machine manufacturers are incorporating the steam washing technology for cleansing purposes. Nevertheless, the basic washing and drying operation remains more or less same.
